Emergency Pet Care Tips

Here are some tips for dealing with a pet emergency:

Remain calm: We know this is easy to say, but if you are panicking your pet will panic. You won't be able to help them if you're unable to function.

Contact Our Veterinarian Clinic: Call our veterinary team if we are available and tell us what happened so we can prepare for your arrival.

Move Your Pet Carefully: An injured or sick pet may be in pain and agitated. You want to be gentle and slow when moving him so as not to make the condition worse or get bitten.

A Few More Points: If your pet ingested a toxic substance, bring it with you or take a photo. Also, have someone else drive if you can, so you can sit with your pet and keep them still.

When to Bring Your Pet for Emergency Care

Bring your pet for emergency care if there are any of the following:

●          Trauma (fall, animal attack, struck by a vehicle)

●          Eaten or drank a lot of a toxic substance

●          Continuous vomiting or diarrhea

●          Weakness/unable to walk

●          Seizure

These are just a few signs of a potential pet emergency. If you believe your pet has been badly hurt and is getting worse, bring him to us and we will do what we can to help him.

What Will an Emergency Vet Do?

When you arrive at the vet's hospital, a team member will triage your pet. If his condition is not as serious as others, he may be made comfortable and seen as soon as possible. If your pet is critical, may be brought in right away and treated. Treatment will depend on your pets needs, but it may include:

●          Emergency surgery

●          Stitches

●          Diagnostics like blood work

●          Antibiotics and pain medication
